About Rachel Hyman — 27 Years of Sheitel Mastery

My Story

My name is Rachel Hyman, and I've been a sheitel macher for 27 years. I took my first step into the world of wigs when I realized that what I saw around me — in the community, among friends, in the mirror — didn't always match what a religious woman deserves: a wig that's high quality, comfortable, beautiful, and feels like an extension of her, not against her.

I trained under the legendary Devorah Leah Adler, and over the years I've completed advanced certifications in every facet of the craft — what's often called "ten masters" in the world of sheitel making. That learning never ends. Every client is a lesson, every wig a unique challenge, and every year the techniques evolve.

Today, I work from my salon in Ramat Beit Shemesh, serving clients from the local community, from Jerusalem, Modi'in, Tel Aviv, and abroad. Alongside the salon, I run Rachel Hyman Academy — the professional school I founded to pass the craft on to the next generation of wig makers around the world.

My Philosophy

Warmth before professionalism

A wig is not a normal purchase. It touches identity, personality, and sometimes moments of real vulnerability — a woman after a medical diagnosis, a bride before her wedding, a young mother after birth. My approach always begins with listening, understanding, and giving space — not selling.

No pressure, no pushing

I don't believe in aggressive sales. If a client needs to go home and think — she goes. If she needs to come three times before she decides — she comes. If in the end she decides not to buy, I stay available for guidance, with no expectation in return. The relationship matters more than the transaction.

Quality over quantity

I work only with truly premium European hair. I reject shipments that don't meet my standard. I would rather guide a client toward a more modest option of higher quality than sell her something expensive of mediocre quality. That honesty is why clients come back for twenty years.

Long-term partnership

A wig doesn't end on the day of purchase. Every client receives ongoing support throughout the life of her wig — repairs, recoloring, straightening, restoration, and phone consultations. That relationship is part of the service, not an upcharge.

In addition to the salon, I run Rachel Hyman Academy — the professional school I founded for sheitel makers. The academy trains wig professionals from around the world — the United States, England, France, Australia, and South Africa — in advanced techniques I've developed over the years.

Why 27 Years of Experience Matter

In sheitel making there are no shortcuts. You learn by doing, by mistakes, by clients who teach you something new every appointment. After 27 years, I can assess a wig at a glance, know which shade will flatter the woman in front of me, and predict how the hair will fall after the cut.
